Nashville Hitmaker and Friends Head for Darlington

A Nashville songwriter whose music was played on country’s most famous stage for almost two decades and who created songs for some of the genre’s biggest names brings a special show to Darlington this month

A Nashville Night, at the Forum Music Studios on Thursday, October 22, is part of the first UK tour by Blue Foley’s Nashville Nights organisation.

Featuring acts from the US, Sweden and North East England, the show will follow the format of a Nashville-style songwriters’ round, where the artists take turns in telling the stories behind their songs, which they then perform for the audience.

Blue Foley has written for some of the biggest names in country and is twice Grammy-nominated for his work with Ashley McBryde, which also earned him a Country Music Awards nomination. Having penned more than 250 tracks that have been recorded, other work includes co-writing songs for Lainey Wilson and Morgan Wallen. His songs have been played on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry for nearly 20 years.

Joining him on The Forum’s stage will be Darlington duo North Riding, Hayley McKay and David Neil Crabtree, as well as Nashville-based Payton Taylor, Swedish country singer Stiko Per Larsson, and New England songstress Kara Tondorf.

Blue said:

I am so excited about this show. Payton and I have both played in the UK before, but this is a first tour here for either of us, and it will be Stiko’s first time playing in the UK, so there are a lot of firsts to get pumped about. That includes a first chance to hear some songs I’ve written with and for Ashley, Morgan and Lainey, which aren’t even released yet.

Allison McKay, Chief Executive of The Forum Music Studios, said:

While Blue’s name isn’t necessarily one that everyone knows, it’s in the little black books of some of the biggest names in country music, and we’re all really excited to have this multinational group of artists coming to The Forum.

Tickets are available from The Forum website.
